The Space Between

The space between not knowing and knowing has to be the worst anticipation I’ve ever felt. Today’s blood draw is done. Monday’s is waiting to be run (they draw on 6dp5dt but run it together with the 8dp5dt one). I have two nasty spots on my arm where they’ve drawn blood.

The space between not knowing and knowing is where doubt creeps in. Where fear takes over. All they can tell me is that I will get a call before my nurse coordinator goes home. So anytime between now and 5pm.

The space between not knowing and knowing is filled with what ifs. And even though knowing doesn’t guarantee a thing, the what ifs are both positive and negative.

The space between not knowing and knowing is filled with minutes much longer than 60 seconds.

The space between not knowing and knowing is right now.
